Ellen Espelund is an artist which mainly works in the media of photography, writing, poetry and painting. The poetic and conceptual are keywords for all her art and projects. She was born in Oslo, Norway, 1973. She currently lives, works and have her studio at her home in Lillehammer, Norway.
Artist statement: "For many years I was doing other than art, like educate and work in other areas, but it felt wrong even though I tried to convince my surroundings it was ok. Tried to please others, and be like them, but then I reached a point of change because I have been an artist my whole life. You can never become an artist. It’s the person you are from birth, but you can flourish or hide yourself, and I was putting myself aside for so many years doing like a lot of artistic souls do when trying to fit in. Believed I could be happy taking a reasonable education, be like others, but I’m not and it made me unhappy. Now I’m back and constantly working to get my projects out.
